On Tuesday, July 29, 2025, DeKalb CUSD 428 will hold a hiring fair for paraprofessional instructional assistants for the 2025-26 school year. The job fair runs from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at DeKalb High School, 501 W. Dresser Road, DeKalb. District staff will be available to answer questions, conduct on-site interviews, and assist with completing the state license process. 

Paraprofessionals, also referred to as teaching assistants, are important members of the education team who work with students and assist certified staff in the classroom. This can include duties such as tutoring, helping to manage the classroom, and organizing materials. Full time and substitute positions are available in all areas of the district, including special education, early childhood, elementary, middle school, and high school. 

Salary Range: $20 - 21.11/hr based on experience

Qualifications:

  1. A valid state Paraprofessional License
  2. Multi language fluency preferred (Spanish fluency; additional language skills preferred or needed per school) as desired at time of initial employment
  3. High school diploma or equivalent; successful completion of college credit at an accredited institution is beneficial
